The best Windows laptop we've tested in 2024 so far is — drumroll, please — the HP OmniBook X. Not only does it have surprisingly long battery life, but its performance beats the likes of the M3 MacBook Pro and M3 MacBook Air. The OmniBook X is a part of a new wave of Copilot+ machines and Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite PCs.

We were especially curious to see the battery life of Snapdragon X Elite-powered laptops. That’s because Apple’s M-series MacBooks are the reigning champions for efficiency. Most of the best Windows laptops we’ve tested barely endure for ten hours — which is a far cry from the best MacBooks that can last for 14 hours at minimum.

Now, the HP OmniBook X has beaten that record. We also tested the M3 MacBooks’ battery runtimes, but the Pro model was benchmarked with PCMark 10, making it incompatible for comparison. But for what it’s worth, it lasted 16 hours and 23 minutes on a charge.
